Kylie Rose McLean
My work practice is broad. I have a particular love of textiles: the mixing, arranging and altering of pre-loved items in terms of colour, texture and pattern and the inherent and varying connections attributed to them; and the natural, earth friendly and unpredictable processes involved in eco-printing and dyeing. With ceramics I am drawn to pit, paper box, wood and raku firings where unexpected beauty is created from natural materials.
My installation work draws on many interests, predominantly that of the human connection to the object and the creation of a multi-layered work providing deeper degrees of complexity and story making.
I come from a background in design. My experience as a production designer, art director and stylist in the film & television, advertising and event industries has armed me with a broad range of creative skills that afford a flexibility I greatly enjoy.
